I am unable to access files stored in Documents, Office, etc. folders from the file system. All the data files are stored in various folders. I can access them by going in Search and selecting the desired files. Please help. I make my point clear. I cannot open My Documents from the desktop. I have to use search function to access various files stored in My Documents.

So if you click on the 'My Files' icon on the desktop, what do you actually see? Does the file manager open at all?

When I click on My Files the File Manager opens and only Home, Trash ans File System are displayed on the tree.
Is there any additional info you need.

On the menu, click View -> Side Pane -> Shortcuts. Does this restore the view you're expecting?
