    Hi guys,

Just got a Aspire one AOA 150-Bb(1gb ram, 120 gb hard disk, windows xp). I picked it up instead of the MSI Wind, cause I thought ram was easy to replace. It turns out it is not. I already have a eeepc 701, and i easily installed a 2 gig module in it.

I am trying to figure out what to do with the Aspire one. I looked with CPU-Z, and it shows me I have two memory slots in the pc, one of which has a samsung 512mb ddr2 in it and slot 2 is empty. The total system memory is 1gb. So what is the deal with the empty slot? Does it really exist? I read somewhere that I cant put a 2 gig module in. I dont want to open it in vain and void the warranty, since i bought it yesterday. (I opened the eeepc cause it came from Malaysia, and the warranty did not cover europe anyway)

Anyone has any clues to why the emtpy memory slot appears and if I will be able to istall a 2 gig module? If not a 2gig, than a 1 gig, which would still give me 2gigs in total if the empty memory module exists. Otherwise, I would have to remove the 512m module and istall a 1 gig, and not a 2 gig, right?

I understand what you are saying, but I did not find an explanation to why CPUz reports an empty Ram module slot

software isn't always 100% accurate. You do not have a free slot.

ill repeat what those guys said
    read/search
but ill answer your main query
    no 2gb cannot be used
acer have to make a bios witht he option to disablle the onboard memory before it will work. thats why the wind now has max ram of 2gb. we are currently stuck at 1.5gb
