    Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any External DVD/CD Writers that are compatible with the Atom processor? All the ones I see in the store have specs that require a Pentium 3 or better.

It would be nice to connect an external CD/DVD drive to the Aspire One.

    Any thoughts out there?

    Thanks,
    ER

atom is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better than pentium 3

anything should work providing it's pretty new, as it's the laptop not the drive which would cause problems with booting, and the one is fine when it comes to booting from usb devices
BTW, I bought the cheapest usb dvd writer pc world haad when i got my one and it works fine, but usually takes a few reboots to make disks boot.

    Hi guys,

I am trying to purchase an external CD ROM drive to load up win xp on my aspire one. but all the external drives say win 98, 2000, ME, XP and vista only. None say that Linux will work. Is this a problem for anyone? Suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.

Any modern external USB cd/dvd drive should work fine.

I had an older internal DVD RW lying around. Ordered an enclosure from N*wegg and installed it a few days ago. Works great on my A1. Installed Office and a few other apps without a hitch.
