I have been bought ACER Aspire One AOA150 (Intel Atom 1.6Ghz, 1GB DDR Ram, 120GB Hardisk, wireless, licensed Wisdows XP home edition SP1, no bluetooth) for 2 weeks and I found that the download speed is incredibly slow  . Previously I owned ACER Travelmate TM290 (Intel Centrino - Pentium M, 256 DDR Ram, 20GB Hard disk, wireless, licensed Windows XP home edition SP3, no bluetooth), I always used TM290 to download drama/movie. Now compare TM290 to AOA150, the download speed for AOA150 is incredibly slow: , for the same movie (from same source) download speed of TM290 - approximately average 15KB/sec; however, AOA150, approximately average 5KB/sec  . Moreover, TM290 is 6 to 7 year ago technology; however AOA15O is latest. In my country, AOA150 starts promoted at about early of August 2008. I am using broadband connection.

Can anyone tell me why it slow please? Can I solve this problem? How?

Why you dont update your AAO to SP3? You got newest drivers for wifi card? Did you use your older computer wireless?

Go to the Speedtest website and check the speed on both laptops. See if there is any difference, because there might be something done to the server or something... :)

Hi, I just got an AA1 over the weekend and found it really slow on my cable internet. Speeds were 150kb up and down. I always use software called CableNuts, which can be downloaded from www.broadbandnuts.com. After running CableNuts and selecting the configuration settings for Win2k (settings are the same as for XP), the speeds were 12mb download and 2mb upload.

I'm looking for suggestions as well, I'm connecting wirelessly at 10mbps, which I know is pretty good. But I have 20/5 service and my 6 year old laptop sitting next to my AAO connects at 17-19. If I am wired it is 20 so definitely is something with the wireless. I've updated the Bios and it didn't make a difference...any suggestions?
