    Hi

I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my A150 and generally its pretty good, apart from one oddity.

If I download a program e.g avast anti virus it downloads ok, but when I go to install I get the message that the download is incomplete. If I do the same using an ethernet connection instead of the wifi it works perfectly.

It seems that anything downloaded like windows/office updates are ok, but when I donwload programs over a certain size then there is a problem. I dowloaded 7zip, Windows LiveMail via wifi and they were ok, maybe because of their small size.

I have also had a couple of BSOD, which from what I have managed to find out so far could be connected to a wifi problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on a solution. As I am going on holiday soon, I would like to get it sorted. I checked Acer's website, but they do not list any Win7 drivers for the A150....... could I use the ones for the AOD150???

It also seems to run hotter too?

    Thanks in advance

After a bit of experimenting I tried the same program download at work using wifi and the download was successful. Tried it again at home and I had the some error.

I then installed Firefox and downloaded the same file and it worked, so I guess the problem could be related to IE8????

Wierd thing is when I compare the downloaded files the are both exactly the same size and size on disk???

Seem to be getting random BSOD too, so I tihnk if things don't improve I am going to go back to XP Pro. Shame as I will miss playing Mahjong.

    I suspect IE8...

I've heard of several reports from several places about file download errors that end up being like you describe... the file actually DOES download, but IE8 thinks there is an error (and Microsoft can't possibly EVER be wrong... heheh)

I'll give you the same answer that HP tech support gave me on my wife's TouchSmart when 2 TS programs wouldn't work after reloading them... reinstall Windows 7! (seriously, that was step 2, or 3 depending on how you count it...)

    Thanks for you reply.

I actually now done a new install of Win 7, this time a proper installation from a USB stick rather than from within XP and everything is much more settled.

Also, since I managed to get XP drivers installed for my WiFi card instead of the default drivers I have had no BSOD (touch wood)

Just cannit get my webcam working though no mateer what driver I use. It shows up in device manager as being installed and working, but it will not work in MSN etc :(

I have this same problem all the time. If I try to copy a large file from another pc on the network, or do a large download, the wireless connection will "break". If I disconnect/reconnect its fine again.

This is either a driver problem or something in the atheros hardware. I haven't been able to find any solution to this.

I've posted about this twice and nobody came through with any helpful info.

You are correct though that the XP drivers are the only ones that do not exhibit this problem. Do not upgrade to a newer version. I tried to install connectify and it will work in AP mode if you have the 805 drivers for it. Problem is that the 805 drivers from Atheros themselves will run but still have the corrupted download issue. Seems to me that perhaps Acer has done something to the card or drivers to prevent it from working seeing as they are unwilling to give up any Win7 drivers for this model.

    hello stepppy,

Looks like you should check Windows 7 Compatibility: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibilty.)
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compat ... fault.aspx
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum specifically for IT Pros located here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... y/w7itpro/ . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to also check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.

    Hi John

Currently I am using XP drivers and all seems to be working ok. I have tried the recommended drivers from the Windows update site, but they caused more BSOD's, hence that's why I am using the XP drivers.

    Many thanks

i've also had this problem. Now the BSOD's have gone away but my wireless connection seems to be really slow now. Downloading seems to lag for a few seconds then download. However if i download big files i still get the wifi shutdown and i have reboot. i still don't have a fix for this. my driver version is 8.0.0.238
