DiVx-Player for Aspire Linux wanted!!

Hi everyone! I´m a absolutely newcomer on LINUX. But I want to use my ACER also as portable videoplayer (for longer travel e.g. in train, plane, etc.). But most of the videos are with DiVx-codec. Therefore I need a player for this codec (I was searching on official DiVx-site - but the programs there are not this what I want). It´s urgent, because I want to go on vacation next week. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks!!

If you would have tried the search tool on the top right corner, entered the words "play divx" in there and pressed search, you would have gotten the "Play DIVX videos with the VLC media player" as the first result.

Of course, the information in that post is outdated and will no longer work. The update is in several pages after it, but one cannot reasonably expect people to make such an effort - right ?
