Hi! 1st post so be kind! (I have done a quick search but soo many threads!)

I'm just confused a bit. I know I want a Aspire One (120gb version) however I'm looking on PC world and they seem to have the same thing 5 times at different prices. Ok most I can see are different (colour/8gb or 120gb version etc) but I cant see any difference between these two:

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...m=null&tm=null&sku=888754&category_oid=-35074 (Product code: 888754)

    and

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...m=null&tm=null&sku=139562&category_oid=-35074 (Product code: 139562)

Same goes with play.com ... they have 10 items found for 'Aspire One' and most seem similar but slight differences. But these two are the same price but one has 1gb RAM and the other has 512mb RAM. Have they done this JUST to confse me??

    http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/58260...GB-120GB-8-9-Linux-NetBook-White/Product.html

    http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/58259...MB-120GB-8-9-Linux-NetBook-White/Product.html

Obviously I want to get the best spec for my money, but theres so many so similar for practically the same prices, even for a bit of a techy guy like me im getting pretty confused!!

So whats the differences between the models??

If you are looking for the version that runs XP then you want to go with the 160 GB, 1GB of RAM, and 6 cell battery. It sells for $399 in the USA, not sure what it will cost on the UK. You can get the 120 GB with 1 GB RAM and 3 cell batt for $50 less but it only gets 2.5 hours of batt time and the 6 cell gets 5-6 hours. Good luck....

I think there are some mistakes in the listings.

There was a 80gig HDD model...but it was dropped for the 120gig HDD.
PCWorld might have one I suppose..but I doubt it,
This is a mistake I reckon, anyways why by 80gHDD when you can get
120g HDD for the same cost?

120g HDD -largest storage currently available in UK (160gig HDD will come later)
1gig Ram is the largest memory available - 512mb is obviously half that - cost is lower.

XP versions cost more than the equivelent Linux versions
XP is only offererd on HDD Whereas Linux is offered on HDD and SSD

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

So theres no 160gb version here in the uk yet? Thats ok, 120gb will do.

I think ill be getting the 120gb, 1gb, linux version.

The plan is to keep linux exactly as it is (on c: i guess) and just use it for firefox really and add another partition with XP on (d:) and all my programs on which ill customize and use the most. Then the rest (e:) will have my music and college work etc on so I wont loose it if i format my XP drive :)

Cant wait to get it now!! Went to pc world the other day but they were out of stock so will probably buy off play.com maybe tomorrow :D

P.S. Great forum, youll be seeing a lot of me soon i expect! :D
