My ZG5 aspire one seems to be dead any way to confirm? It doesn't power on, the oft touted bios trick doesn't seem to work either the power buttons led isn't lighting at all. Any other suggestions?

Possibly bad power board, assuming you tried the usual reinserting the battery and checking your power supply. Good news is its separate of the motherboard so you don't have to buy a whole new mobo to try it out.
