My touchpad also has a mostly unresponsive area toward the bottom 1/4 inch. Also about 1/8 inch around the sides and top. :?: Is this normal for the hardware or is this a malfunction and I should contact Acer? This is annoying and doesn't seem normal.

Windows or Linpus Linux version of the AAO ?
In both cases it is due to the settings of the Synaptics Touchpad - For windows you can adjust it in the Advanced section of the Synaptics options in the Mouse control panel.
For Linpus you need the gsynaptics applet installed to adjust it AFAIR.

I have Windows XP. And make what specific adjustments in the Synaptics settings? I have tried many many options in those settings to no avail. Still area around the edges not responsive, especially bottom 1/4 inch. Thanks so much for your help in getting this resolved.
