Yup, I've gotta give my thanks to Steve too - Ive got an M3100 (HTC Hermes) but not the ICS app, I've got a slightly different modem app and it doesn't work without the ipaq module.

This works flawlessly, thank you for the tutorial.
I'm curious what changes you made to the kernel configuration. Could you please add some remarks on what you had to configure in order to make it work?

    Good job!

had to add support for the cdc_ether and some other networking related things (linux is rather a pain with usb networking kit ) options , also added more bluetooth support and a few other items i personally like to have in a kernel, - tread back through this thread and someone posts about the cdc_ether errors i had to fix up :)

hi guys i noticed that after the most recent update by internet no longer worked but just to let you know that if you get this same problem then all you have to do is follow dj_steves guide from this point onwards
    Code:
     cd /home/user/wmfiles/usb*
then it will all be working good again :D

I am trying to connect to the internet using my HTC Touch Diamond. I followed the guide by dj_steve but it doesn't connect. It tries to connect but then the network connection drops. When I run dmesg I get the following message
    Anyone know what's wrong?
PS I can successfully browse using the phone with a Windows laptop so I know the ICS works

Argh noooo, I got half way through the script, thought it was a good idea to backup my machine in case I bricked it, and now dj_steves web site is down.

Does anyone else have the instructions please.

    Thanks

Steve, thanks both for the guide in the first place and also the link for the archived page.

I guess it would help if I actually learnt all this stuff for myself.

    Thanks again

Hmmm, managed to build it all and tried to connect via an HTC Touch Diamond to T-Mobile in the UK.

If I have a connection defined in the network manager for DHCP then the icon in the toolbar rotates as if it is try to get an ip, which it never does. This appears to time out, you get a message in a popup that the network has disconnected and then it starts to connect again.

If I have the connection set with an ip it says conneted on the icon in the bar but ping says network unreachable, which seems fair as the ip is almost certainly not the correct one.

I do a dmesg and I get exactly the same error as neo cortex.

If I connect my windows vista system to the phone it works perfectly, however interestingly enough ipconfig on the does not show me the ip address of the connection.

    Anyone have an idea?

    Regards
