Might be a bit thick here but lookin to buy memory, what does pin configuration mean?

Crucial recommendation has a 200 pin config, but pny have a 240 pin config, does it make any difference? is the pin configuration the connections from memory pcb to motherboard or is it to do with the chips?

So should i be lookin for 240 or 200 pin config or will that not matter

240pin is for desktop, 200pin is for laptop. Look for SO-DIMM DDR2.

If you are in the UK then play.com have some PNY DDR2 SODIMMs on offer at very competitive prices (1GB for £7.99 delivered).

Hey guys - I'm also a little confused.

I have a 512mb Aspire One (the 120 GB HDD version) - what memory should I buy from Play.com to make my machine a little faster?

    PC2-5300/DDR2-667 200pin 1GB SO-DIMM. Corsair works fine.

    Thanks Goofball.

    I'm guessing you're talking about this Corsair Value Select: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3435850/C ... oduct.html

I have no reason to believe that the cheaper PNY module will not work equally as well.

Is there a slightly 'more expensive' brand of memory that everyone else has been buying?

I'd rather go for something that has been recommended by a few peeps on this forum.

Thanks again for the help, guys.

I've just put in an order for the Corsair.

Is there a thread that explains how to fit the stuff?
