Chargers Consistently Breaking?

I have an HP Pavillion Sleekbook 14. Over the 3+ years that I have had it, I have literally gone through 5 or so chargers. To be fair, one of them I broke myself by bending it too hard, but the rest simply stopped charging my laptop. I have even had off brand chargers that sparked when plugged into the laptop. Has anybody else experienced something like this? I am wondering if it's actually a battery issue and not a charger issue.
