Hi folks. I have been trying for months to get my Aspire to recognize a new hard drive while trying to restore my machine using my restore DVDs. Everytime I tried I would get the CDROM Memory Overflow error.

    I tried lots of things.

What ended up working was the following: 1. Installing my new drive in the Aspire One. 2. Attaching my old Aspire One factory drive via an external USB HD enclosure. 3. Attaching my USB DVD drive with recovery disk one already inside it. 4. Booting the machine while pressing F12. 5. Selecting the option to boot from the USB DVD drive.

Honestly, I spent hours googling, trying different combinations, etc. I can't tell you how relieved I was to get a fresh install on a bigger hard drive. Now my machine works faster than ever, boots in no time, and has lots of space for movies, music, and some fun apps.

    Hope this helps.
