Hi, I have recently puurchased a new Acer aspire one netbook.
Can I use any external CD/DVD Rewriter usb drive on it. Because I am looking to purchase an external drive that will work on both my acer aspire and my desktop PC??

Assuming XP on the Acer and a reputable drive manufacturer, simple yes. It'll recognize the new drive when the USB is connected, and support the drive's disk burning or backup software, drivers, etc. if you want to install those.

I bought a Samsung external CD/DVD drive and used it to boot Mint live CD for gparted, and to boot and install OSX iDeneb. Works a treat. USB powered so no bulky power adaptors, and is small enough that I can fire the AAO and it into a small case for travelling :)
