I have a 751h running Windows XP Pro SP3. It has the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500. My problem is that when I adjust the brightness with the function keys the screen will return to its highest brightness after about 15 seconds.

To try and correct the problem I have uninstalled the driver, made sure I had the latest driver from Acer's support site. Since that did not solve the problem, I also downloaded and installed the latest driver directly from Intel. However, this did not fix the problem.

Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone know a solution. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I have the same problem with XP SP3.
Still don't know how to fix it.

Not sure if it will help anyone else, but I figured out a solution. It appears if I kill or do not allow the "persistencethread.exe" process to run, the computer is able to maintain the screen brightness I choose w/ the brightness adjustment function keys on the netbook.

Also, just installed the latest driver released last week. It is version 6.14.11.1012 of the Intel driver for Windows XP Pro. With it installed I do not have the stop the "persistencethread.exe." process.
