Hi All, My daughter has a Aspire One- KAV10. Which she hasn't used for a couple of years. When she charged it up and started all she got was a one second whirring of the hard drive and a Black screen. Nothing else. I have been tasked with finding a solution. Help! Please.

Welcome to the laptop forums site

If the laptop was working when it was last used two years ago then it's possible that the motherboard battery has run out.

If this is the problem then you will need to boot up into the bios this should be as easy as pressing the power button followed with a lot of tapping on the F2 key until your in the bios settings.

From the bios setting you will need to in the boot section allow the bios to search for the internal hard drive.

You will have to follow this procedure every time you need to use the laptop until you have replaced the motherboard battery.

It's usually a button type battery possibly a “cr2032” battery
