    Greetings,

I have an Acer Aspire one 10", 8GB SSD 512 MB RAM and would like to try some other Linux distro on it.

    My requirements are simply:

    - run Firefox, skype and OpenOffice on it, the newest possible stable versions
    - as light as possible on CPU and RAM
    - out of the box complete support for ALL the hardware (sound, webcam, X, wifi...)
    - actively maintained
    - good package manager (I prefer yum/rpm, but even apt/deb is OK, really)

I don't really care for the GUI (KDE, Gnome, XFCE, whatever) and I don't really need any other specific application but those listed above. So, what would you recommend in this case?

    TIA for any feedback,
    M.

Recommendations (in no particular order): Fedora LXDE spin or Lubuntu (Ubuntu with LXDE).
You'll probably want to get rid of unneeded packages in either case.
