    Hi

    Hope anyone can help

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 and am now experiencing a major fault.

My backlight doesn't work correctly. As soon as I boot up the laptop, all I get is a VERY dim image, it is like this from scratch so I'm always sure it is hardware related.

I have done all the troubleshooting I can, tried all the software options first, graphics driver update, system restore etc etc, but nothing worked.

I have tested my laptop on an external display and that all works perfectly, so I don't believe it's the graphics card.

I have heard that there is a little switch under the casing that turns the screen (backlight) on or off depending on if the lid is closed, someone on another forum suggested that this could of got stuck on off. Is this possible?

Any help would be much apreciated, I just don't understand as I CAN see something if I shine a torch and if you press FN + F5, it brightens up a tiny bit for about 2 secs then goes back off again?

    Any Ideas guys?
