Is anyone else using Avast? I only ask coz I've noticed I get a delay when loading web pages in firefox and I'm wondering if it's something to do with Avast... Can't think what else could be causing it.

Using Avast on Acer Aspire One, ASUS Eee PC HD1000, Toshiba A135, HP TX2525NR, and HP DV7T. No issues I can tell.

Avast is one of the better free antvirus programs, if you are getting a delay this is because avast is using web shield to check the pages are safe. You can however stop this from running in the settings but you are leaving yourself wide open to malicious web pages. :D

If it downloading the updates it will slow things down but otherwise it shouldn't be causing problems. Use ccleaner to keep the extra files you don't need cleaned up and defrag. ccleaner also lets you shut down starttup programs you don't need, be careful though make sure you know what your disabling it also is a good registry cleaner but again look at what it wants to remove.
