I am completely missing gcc and make. Is there a wget location or something that I can use to get this updated. I was given my aspire one. I am thinking that I may need to completely reinstall. A pointer to that would be welcome as well. Thanks.

With ALT+F2 you can start a "terminal". There you can "sudo yum install gcc", make etc. There is also a package manager called "pirut" that is a little more comfortable. Most fedora packages work out of the box.
