Aspire One A150L UNR 9.04 getting the most out of it

    I've seen mention of tweaks to get the most out of the netbooks (specifically battery life) but doing search reveals few results

    at home I don't use wireless, but I suspect I will need it to use the uni network. so need to get that working (however I have no way to test at home as I use exclusively Ethernet and have got a router designed only for that.

    oddly when I first installed Ubuntu it wouldn't do sudo apt-get install , even on things I knew were in the repository, having updated the system (updater started about 15min after I checked and it told me everything was up to date, (250+ files @147.1MB)) it has allowed me to use the apt-get commands, but puzzled as to why it wouldn't prior to that
