I backed up my A1 onto my external harddrive, which also has most of my music and files. But I got a couple of 4GB SD cards and I want to use one as my backup for now as I did some couple of things meanwhile I want to change. Can I just transfer the folders to the SD, pop it in, start in the A1, select the SD and do as per with these instructions?
I used Macles' backup instructions there.

I'm ok restoring from the harddrive. But because there are other files on it, I'm not sure how it'd work out and I don't want to take any risks...

I just got some spare SD cards, 4GB each. Can I just copy the files from my harddrive to a spare SD card and recover from there..? There will be nothing else on the card.

EDIT: I tried copying them to the SD card, that was ok, but the PC won't boot from it, so nevermind. Tomorrow I'll buy a USB stick and copy/paste onto it and see if it works...

Copying your files won't get you a bootable device. It won't even get you a complete copy. What I do is boot off a live USB stick and use partimage to create a compressed backup of my Linux installation on an SD card. To recover, I boot off the USB stick and use partimage to restore the backup from he SD card. The backup file thus created is transferrable to another medium, if that's a concern.
