I've been struggling with the workaround lately, I was amazed there wasn't a topic on these forum. I'm going to quote myself from a post I just made at InsanelyMac:

I think I've found a new working solution.

Install this kext I edited (you must have 10.5.6 along with the 9.6.0 Voodoo Kernel by Andy (Search InsanelyMac for this) so I hope to get credits for this. If you decide to post it somewhere else please give props to me, thanks.

Installation and Workaround method quoted from the README.rtf.

There is not 9.6.0 Voodoo Kernel by Andy in insanelymac or anywhere. The Latest Voodoo kernel is 9.5.0.

Please read on down thru that thread. Andy is a gun coder and we're all grateful for much
great work he's done on OSX86, but, this is not an official Voodoo 9.6 kernel from
the google-xnu team. There appear to be ppl having problems with it, there is
a certain amount of "baggage" other than a kernel in his installer pkg, so take care.
His use of sitx compression, while valid, also threw some ppl who hadn't met it before.

That's true, still that's the kernel I'm using and the card is working flawlessly.

Thanks Chuckalo for the link I couldn't find.
I have 2 questions for you:
    - Is the WiFi Led on when the WiFi card is turned on?
    - Is it possible to turn on and off the WiFi card at will and how can this be done?

No unfortunately, the LED is not working. As for the turning it on/off I do it pressing the Airport Icon on the menubar. I'm not using Andy's kernel anymore I'm on the vanilla kernel and seems to work. However, it works when it wants to; when I can't find any networks or kismac freezes I just shut down and turn on the lappy again.

After the installation of Andys Kernel 9.6.0 I get the WiFi card to work about 50% of the reboots. So we have to wait more for the solution IF it comes ever.

    waiting........................................

Unfortunately Kismac stopped finding wireless networks, also my usb stick stopped to be recognized by OSX and I had some kernel panics during boot.

The time to restore my AAO to the previous stage has come.

I'll be searching and waiting for the next try...........

    Good Hunting chuchcalo.

Yeah it works sometimes. I've been booting with "-f -v" strings and pressing the wifi switch on the AAO before it boots so the card "powers on". Its just a hunch tho I don't think it makes any difference but I'm happy when kismac can find my networks.

and I have 10.5.6. Can I install it?

I guess you can "try", I don't promise anything since I'm using a 9.6 voodoo kernel ported by someone named Andy while you're using the "official" 9.5 kernel so there's a difference there. I don't think they differ in anything I just can't assure it's going to work for you.

Hmms.. KisMac isnt showing any networks should i switch the -f kernel parm OFF/ or ON?
Seems the release notes says its better left off, but i dont seem to find any networks..
I am using KisMac 0.21 since the site doesnt offer binaryt dl as the link seems broken.

    Cheers,
    Tony

    WOOOHOOOO !!!!!! :D

It works brilliantly! (i guess i needed to do some normal RTFM)
    1. Basically just install the kext using kext helper
    2. reboot without using the -f option.
    3. Start KissMAC
    * if not done yet: go to preferences and select 'Apple Airport Extreme, passive mode'
    4. Click start scan, and your accespoint should appear.
    5. Close KissMAC (important step, because KissMAC would keep capturing the packets).
    6. Use AirPort and Select your network.

    * if your network doesnt appear, reboot the machine.
