Apple uses Samsung warehouse to make products...fake competitors to me

How is it that they can be in competition in regards to business but Apple uses Samsung to manufacture processors. That doesn't make sense to me. That's like Mc.Donalds going to Wendy's for burger patties but they are in competition.

Makes me wonder what really is competition in business. Why do they do this?
