I use a Vlite Vista Ultimate on my Aspire One SSD.
    It takes about 3.5Gb installed.

I installed it from a 4Gb SanDisk USB memorystick.
It took about 30-40 minutes to install and it worked perfectly, however, I had to tweak the vista a bit, optimize it for performance, remove unwanted applications, etc.

I think I will change to the 1.8" ZIF HD, then I will run a full edition vista instead, as the storagespace and the swap can then be used. (I have disabled swap, shadow copies, etc.)

AA1 has a SLIC table in the latest version of the BIOS.
You would need an authentic ACER OEM DVD version of Vista for it to be recognised though.
A normal retail Vista version will always ask for product activation.

I think AA1 better with XP SP3 + Vista Transformation Pack. Not tested by myself yet except uxtheme patch + Longhorn XP theme. Will try VTP when/if my AA1 back alive.

yes, but its with firefox, vlc, ie.
however, no email client, no mspaint, etc. :p

disabled search indexing, shadow copies, swap, hibernation.
I would say its ok though, one could use an sd card int he left slot for storage.

the problem is, I know how to make retail activate on OEM activation, but simply just insert CERT might do it? I dunno.
CERT info has to match SLIC, or it won't activate.

I think so. I tried to use the Acer.XRM-MS certificate with a Dell Vista Ultimate OEM key and it did not worked.

Since the AA1 was no made to be available with Vista, Acer did not put the SLIC information into the bios table, even if they are there (Everest).

You will have to use VistaLoader or find a way to update table in the bios.

That is why I use XP finally.Anyway, with 1gb of ram, XP is better (I don't want to open my unit for now).

    Good luck!
