Take a look at the end of the Product Description at Amazon. It says: "Color: Sapphire Blue Battery: Six-cell "
Looks like the new 1447 model.

I do not find that quote. Where do the advertisement states that it has the 6-cell battery.

Anyway, it says that it will be shipped from 2 to 5 weeks, which means that they do not know when it will be released.

Yesterday's quote from Amazon's Product Description about the 6 cell battery was from yesterday's web page. Today the 6 cell reference is gone. Others commented on this change in the product description in the discussion section on this product at Amazon. No idea what this change means other that it is now unclear from the web page what kind of battery is included.

afik, the 160GB Windows XP model *only* comes with a 6-cell battery. So, if this really *is* the 160GB XP model, it's gotta have the 6-cell battery -- or else Amazon is dismantling the new model and putting in 3-cell batteries, which doesn't make much sense on their part.

Since that retails for $399.99 as a new model, it seems a little disingenous of Amazon to claim they're offering it at a $50 "discount." :?

I guess the other possibility is that Amazon's folks aren't clued into the differences, and don't really know what model they now have in stock. Which is entirely possible too I'm afraid.

FYI - I discussed the various models and availability with my rep at CDWG (the government side of CDW). They have the new 1GB/160GB/XP models in white and blue that should be arriving on or about Sept. 18/19. They're expecting approx. 250 of each of those two models to arrive at that point. My understanding is that they will have the 12 cell battery on those models when they come in. Cost for this model is approx. $399 USD. :D

Seeing as how I picked up 2 of the 512/8GB models just a few weeks ago from Circuit City for $309/$279 I can't complain too much. I've ordered one of each of these new models for work along with a USB DVD burner, and a few other goodies...

Right now Amazon said the 6 cell model will be instock on the 23nd. I already preorder it on buy.com, should I preorder here too and cancel when one of them ships?
