It's a gaming laptop, sure. But I think it's like Apple, people pay more for the logo rather than the specs of the gadget. I'm sure there are tons of laptops out there that can match or even surpass alienware laptops, but nobody would notice those laptops if you pull it out of Starbucks or something. People notice the alien logo and think, wow, this guy has good taste! Am I the only one who thinks like this?

My Asus G750JZ cost me half the price of an alienware with the same specs at the time of purchase. :p I would never consider Alienware because they are Dell and I will never, and i mean never, buy another Dell system ever again. Horrible customer service, horrible hardware. Definitely not worth the purchase.

The latest alienware devices from what I can tell, i'll go with this one :

    Alienware 15 r2
    -Core I7 6700HQ
    -Full HD 1920 x 1080
    -GTX 965M ( 2GB Dedicated )
    -8GB DDR4
    -128GB M.2 + 1TB 7200 SATA
    -Xbox 360 Controller
    -8 cell 92WHrs
    -7.0 lbs

    Total cost - 1299
    If preferred customer - 1199
With coupon they send back - $1069

So that's a decent little laptop , for almost under a grand.

Lets compare it to say, an ASUS.

    ASUS ROG G752VL-DH71
    -IPS display (1920 x 1080)
    -GTX 965M GPU ( 2GB Dedicated )
    -Intel® Core™ i7 6700HQ Processor
    -1TB HDD
    -16GB Ram
    -66WHrs, 3S2P, 6-cell Li-ion Battery
    -8.8 lbs

    Total Cost - 1299

    So... Identical price
, but dell comes out considerably cheaper with the preferred account, and coupon they send you ( gift card ), which they do send, I have many of them.

    lets check out the differences.

    ASUS
    -More Ram
-Larger Display ( 17 inches ) - This is really more of a preference thing
    -More ram slots for upgrades

    Dell
    -SSD + HDD
    -Larger battery, much, much larger
    -Free controller
-Lighter, by 1.8 pounds ( the weight of a netbook / ultrabook ).

so, for about the same two machines, the dell ( alienware ) actually comes out to be about 300 dollars less, also, free overnight shipping. With upgrading the ram on the dell being about 49~ dollars, then i'll take my bets on the alienware. Also, while not everyone likes this, the lighting zone system on the alienware is nice, the light up track pad is nice, and it's a pretty nice looking rig. Overall, I don't see how it's over priced, considering it's the same price? Could you elaborate on what it costs more than ?
