Add/Remove Software (Pirut) won't start

Hey guys i have the following problem:

Everything worked out fine for my AAO, i have plenty of software installed and
everything is great. but just the other day i wanted to download gtkpod to connect a
friends's ipod to the netbook. unfortunately, the add/remove software programm does not
start anymore. when i try to open it via the rightclickmenu or when i doubleclick on
a rpm file pirut askes me to type in my administrator password. but when i do that
the new window is just blank plain grey. on top it says [installing packages] but there
is nothing in the actual window. when i try to close it, it won't close.

i hope theres any solution.
