ACER UPDATES

To admins / site moderators: I'd advise making this "Acer Updates" thread a sticky.

(Place it permanently at the top of the page so that all users who note new updates from Acer can post the announcements.) :geek:

Very true, they don't give out much information.
Hmm, just a thought, what about a list for things users (that's us) would like added to the standard build, or items we would like addressed by Acer. A wish list.

my updates aren't working, it always says that my network connection is lost at the same part which is the OS update. 180101 or something... I think I have to use recovery cd and try again unlesss someone has suggestions.
 
There are more updates available from Acer, they are:

Live update
LAN download
Printer
Operating system
input languages
Power centre

Note thst the installation process can look like it has stalled, please be patient.
 
The ACER-Update form Jul 30 2008 is buggy for AAO with german Keyboard: After updating the Keyboard-Setting is "UNKNOWN" and you can't change it back with out-of-box Software, Keyboard has UK/US-Default.
 
The file

/usr/bin/xkb_plugin_set_xorg.sh

that was included in the last update does not work. I tried the commands from the command line as root, but the LANG detection does not work, so it defaults to the last switch, which then has to be modified with the right settings for the keyboard (as discussed in the keyboard thread).
 
My live update appears to stall over and over again, even if I wait hours for it to complete.
Can I install the updates manually?
