yesterday I managed to install unbuntu from a memory stick onto my Acer One. I managed to fire up the software and get it working but I have an issue when trying to start the machine from "off" - If I start the one with mains power, unbuntu will not fire up.

I get the message /dev/sda1: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY then various lines ending with root@one-laptop:~#

If however I turn on on battery mode, the software loads with no problems?

I presume that battery power makes the machine miss out saomething on the startup process but I dont know what I'm afraid.

    Any help would be great

    Thanks :|

    Hi,

You are right, running on battery makes it skip the 'fsck' (File System Check).

What you need to do is give the Root password, then enter at the prompt:

    e2fsck -f /dev/sda1

This will check and mark the filesystem clean again.

    Hope it helps :)
