    Hi All,

i had some spare Ram from an old laptop, and wanted to upgrade my ZG5 from 512mb to 2gb. I watched utube on how to do this, all when to plan until it came i tried to power it up.

The bios doesn't boot, so ive tried the whole Esc + Fn key with a usb stick. No joy. The light on the key doesn't even stay on, it flashes for a split second but thats it.

    any ideas??

i had just upgraded to Lubuntu 11.04 from ubuntu 10.10.

    many thanks

As far as I'm aware, the ZG5 will only support a maximum of 1.5Gb RAM. That's with a 1Gb stick and the 512mb already integrated.

The most likely cause for the black screen after upgrading the RAM is an incompatible RAM module. The contacts on the RAM could also be dirty. I ran into this when first upgrading my D250. Cleaned the contacts on the RAM with a white pencil eraser, reinstalled and it worked.

    hey Mark

many thanks, all working now. Seems that the 512mb of ram that came didn't work when it went back in, but had spare.

ps. put Lubunbu 11.04 on now and works better than ever

    cheers
