    Hi there,

I recently left my Acer Aspre One on my bed charging for a couple of hours. Yep, silly I know ..because when i picked it up it was pretty hot . Everything worked ok until I tried putting the ac adaptor in to power it. Now it only powers the computer/charges the battery if I wiggle the adaptor end around for a bit in the computer socket. Sometimes this doesn't work at all.

Anyway, I wondered if anyone might be able to advise if this problem is likely to have been caused by the computer overheating...or is it likely to be unrelated ?

Also, could it be a problem with the adaptor rather than the computer?

Thanks for any advice :) - much appreciated.

    Hi there,

As you suggest it could be a number of factors causing the problem and the best way to eliminate them is try swapping things over.
Do you know someone with an Aspire One that you can try your power pack on their machine and theirs on yours? This will eliminate the power pack as the issue.

There have been a number of cases of this in the past where the DC jack on the motherboard has deteriorated over time and it may be coincidence this hapened after it got hot. Check and see if the power cord is loose in the jack.

My bets are a new cord will help if not fix the problem.

    Hi
Thanks for your reply - very kind of you.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a similar computer so I think I'll try buying a new adaptor off ebay and take it from there...fingers crossed! I'll update you!

    Regards
    Angus
