When I'm testing a newly built custom desktop PC or a just ordered cool laptop, I use PC Wizard 2008. It's a free program that lets you see everything about your computer, but the only problem is that every program gives you a different score due to the different score given to each component. So it was nice of Microsoft to integrate the Windows Experience Index into Windows Vista, so no one has to install any programs. It would be cool if it would be in Windows XP as well as it is used a lot. :p

Thanks for the replys ;) . I am not excepting any great scores , what I really want to see is how big is the gaming performance diffrence between XP and Vista (when it comes to AA1). I already know my vista scored 2547 . Lets say if xp scored 3000 thats a noticable diffrence but if they scored 2600 thats not .

P.S. And to be completely honest I could restore my XP image and test it myself , but posting here seemed easier at the time and maybe other people too r intrested in this info :geek:
P.S.2 Btw even with 3000 score it cant touch modern games , but it would play say wow a bit better...

I just downloaded 3DMark2001 SE and ran it on my AAO with XP Pro SP3 with these settings:

    640x480, 16 bit color
    Antialiasing: None
    Frame Buffer: Double
    Texture Format: Compressed
    Z-Buffer Depth: 24 bit
    Rendering Pipeline: D3D Software T&L

    And the result was... (drumroll)

    "2942 3D marks"

    Hope that helps.

Thats exactly what I was looking for , thank u very much . Sadly there is still a noticeable diffrence between the two platforms , and I might have to double partition .

Yep , its default setting is 16-bit and i didnt bother changing it . Today I got my hands on lg x110 which is pretty much the same thing as wind . I did run the test and the result was 2764 . LG x110 was running it preinstalled windows xp which is loaded with useless programms and wasnt overclock .

    Hello everyone.

I installed and run 3dmark2001se, at every possible resolution (640x480,800x600,1024x600) or color depth, always the same result (around 29xx points)

    See you.

I restored my XP SP3 ( fully updated ) image to the AA1 . This version ( made by me :p ) is completely free of useless services and programms and has all the necessary stuff and a vistamizer to look better . Anyway I run 3dmark2001 and scored 3015 ( i have screenshot ) and rerun on battery only to score a bit higher . That's a nearly 20% difrence , and its easily noticable when playing games as well . I guess i am sticking with xp .

P.S. I believe that the bad vista performance might have to do with aero or the sidebar , or the other nice looking vista stuff
