8GB Hard drive appearing as 6.4GB??

    Does anyone know where the rest of my hard drive is?

    First of all, 8GB translates to about 7.2 in real life megabytes because of the whole 1024 bytes thing.

    There is a 1GB partition on your aspire one called a "swap" partition. it is like extended ram but on your hard disk, it kicks in when you run out of real ram

    if you dont wantit anymore, you can reclaim the space. instructions available at macles.blogspot.com

    8 GB = (8,000,000,000 B / 1024^3) GiB = 7.45 GiB
