    About the WiFi - I like to use the Madwifi drivers as they support packet injection using Aireplay-ng.

    If I use this kernel can I disable the wifi driver and install Madwifi drivers?

    It's double the 14 seconds the OP talks about though.. Can we get Petaramesh' kernel faster?

    I hope someone could. !!

    I was publishing this news because he made a custom kernel which works... So, now, some geek could maybe optimize again this config file ?

    like i said, I have a custom kernel here that works. Only things broken right now are bluetooth and webcam. Come to #onelinux on freenode (irc.freenode.org)for more info. I have not released it yet, but intend to as soon as the last two issues are out of it.

    I switched back to my own compiled kernel instead of the debs. The ath5k drivers didn't work for me that well (I had some problems connecting different networks). Also, the wifi leds didn't work and that's really annoying. Besides that, booting took a while and gnome ran slower to my opinion.

    I never managed to get the webcam working with my own compiled kernel, but using http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4777298&postcount=1, it worked. These are the commands to recompile the uvcvideo drivers. Fire up cheese afterwards and see some shiny teeth.

    Code:
    $ sudo apt-get install libusb-0.1-4 libusb-dev linux-headers-$(uname -r) subversion
    $ svn co --revision 205 svn://svn.berlios.de/linux-uvc/linux-uvc/trunk uvcvideo-r205
    $ cd uvcvideo-r205
    $ make
    $ sudo make install
    $ sudo depmod -ae
    $ sudo modprobe uvcvideo

    no, it is not set to y according to the config file. I just asked him if he could include it in its config for next versions

    I am not able to use ntfs-3g and therefore I can't mount any ntfs storage devices with petaramesh's kernel. Can anyone confirm this?

    It's looking good so far. My sdhc is rock solid with EXT2, wireless seems fine (although I have had a few random dropouts), and sound is good (but I haven't tried microphone or headphones). Not sure if it is my imagination but screen updates (eg. when moving between apps) seems slower.

    • Go to http://petaramesh.org/post/2008/09/01/N ... Aspire-One[/*:m:2frsbioi]
    • Download the last three attachments (in section 'Annexes' just before the comments start)[/*:m:2frsbioi]
    • run the following
      Code:
      sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite linux-image-2.6.27-a1sp011_2.6.27-a1sp011-10.00.Custom_i386.deb linux-headers-2.6.27-a1sp011_2.6.27-a1sp011-10.00.Custom_i386.deb
      [/*:m:2frsbioi]
    • reboot[/*:m:2frsbioi]

    If you have the wireless LED commands in rc.local you will need to comment them out as they don't work with this kernel.

    Update - microphone works well but headphones still not detected.

    Petaramesh's kernel 11 is shaping as a seriously good option. Perhaps it should be in the wiki.

    here are all of the versions of the oneLinux kernel.
    Everything is working out of box now. Next step is to steamline it and remove any extra packages. Also to fix the headphone detection...
