I see that people are starting to get their 6 cell models but I haven't seen anyone post what type of battery life they are getting. Can anyone let us know?

    Thanks!

    I have the 6 cell

Browsing the internet, playing some games, and even watching HD video, I am able to get close to 6 hours of battery life :D

@melhiore: if you don't mind me asking, where did you get your battery from? :)

Got mine last week and took it on a weekend trip. Battery life is exceptional - haven't fully drained the battery yet but I used it with my Sprint Mobile Broadband, and cumulatively used 4 hours with still quite a bit of battery left. Defintely no regret getting the 6-cell vs. 3 (though I may consider buying an extra 3-cell since the 6 does feel pretty hefty in weight).

Finally I finished testing my battery. AA1 with 6600mAh working 5h20min. with mixed Wi-Fi and 3G (BT always on, Firefox and IM). On Wi-Fi only AA1 works about 6h10min (BT on, Firefox, IM). Now I'm quite happy with this even when overall weight of the AA1 with 6600mAh raised...

I'm on WinXP PRO SP3 with optimizations... There is couple of posts suggesting that Linux is using more power then Windows but ATM I can not confirm that...

    6600mAh??
    Mine is only 5200...

With Mandiva Linux I get about 5 hours with WiFi on and doing stuff with it (not just idle), the display brightness somewhere in the middle. With Linpus I got around 6 hours, but the usage was different, so it is hard to compare.

I think the 6600mAH is 3rd party, 5200mAH is OEM

not a valid test for sure, but I got 4 hours of solid run time after it sat in standby for 3 days. I'm sure it would easily pull 5 hours off a fresh charge. Not bad at all!

I don't mind the added weight of the battery because it's still lighter than carrying around a power brick. Plus, it gives a nice tilt to the keyboard.

I get around 5hrs in Xubuntu Intrepid with normal usage. I've seen reviews that say it lasts about 3 and a half hours watching video.

    If it is genuinely 6600mAH then it will be a 9-cell (3 x 2200mAH).
