I just bought an Acer 532H and love it.

Question: I would like to use an older 15" lcd display that is 4x3 aspect. Can I plug it into the vga port and Fn+F5 to use it as a larger monitor? What resolution should I use. Also can I plug in the vga cord in when the computer is booted up?

I haven't invested in a LCD tv for the bedroom and would like to use this 15" monitor bedside until then.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Absolutely, as long as there is a VGA port, you can connect to any vga monitor. Best would be to use a standard size 4:3 resolution like 1024x768 or if you can stand it 1152x864 although I personally would stick with the 1024x768.

Just plugged my HP L1940T monitor into the vga port of my acer aspire one. What else must I do to have it recognize the monitor? Sorry if this seems extremely simplistic- I know very little of computers
