2nd workspace as regular desktop?

I know that you can have multiple workspaces on this little puter, but it would be the Bees-Knees to be able to switch from a Linpus(basic) desktop to another regular desktop with trash icon, home, all the usual stuff you put on a desktop.

You easily could switch between them using Cntrl-Right arrow or left arrow
Setting up multiple workspaces is easy, but the rest I have no clue.

any ideas????
