120GB XP Version available in US!

They're in stock on CDW! Just ordered mine so hopefully I'll see it in about a week!

 

Nevermind that...they called me and it's just on back order...still til mid/late August like we were already expecting. All that excitement for nothing

 

their site says 1-3 days for these right now, i just put in an order but maybe I should call them to confirm.

 

CDW has 75 en route with an ETA of 8/7/2008, and another 100 with an eta of 8/31/2008.

Emphasis on the E in ETA.

 

I just called CDW today, and they're expecting 75 in tomorrow. When I called a few hours ago, there were 21 left that hadn't been ordered yet (and I made that 20)...so I should be seeing mine next week sometime assuming everything goes as planned!

 

I got the 120 white from cdw today. I was told it'd be shipping out tonight

 

I saw the recent posts in here and thought I'd try my luck at CDW, too. When I called I was told they had a shipment of 75 due to arrive in Las Vegas tomorrow, with 49 orders already made (equals 26 available). I just placed my order, for a grand total of 435.52 (399 + tax + 9.99 shipping). The nice lady on the phone said she'd email me if the shipment didn't arrive in Las Vegas tomorrow.

I don't know if this is the same batch mentioned in other posts since it appears there are 26 available...

Crap, I forgot to ask what color this is going to be, but I guess I don't care...I just want one


Anyways, here's hoping I get it. I'm off to cancel my buy.com order.

 

So hopefully some of our US friends will be seeing some 120GB Xp action this weekend! I look forward to the reports.

You know, for something that's supposed to sell 5-6 million this year worldwide, or 250,000 per week here on in, it's amazing that we are dealing with 2 or 3 digit stock quantities at major US e-tailers.

 

Well it seems i haven't been charged yet nor has it shipped so I guess that fell through.

I also realized I probably ordered a 3 cell when I wanted a 6, the cdw.ca didn't specify but now that I think about it it's probably 3 cell

I only saw a white, 3 cell battey Aspire One at CDW (according the the specs page which I later read more carefully), so I pretty sure that's the one we're getting. It seems strange to me that Acer would regularly sell the 120gig model with a 6 cell at the same price as the 120gig model with a 3 cell. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just that it doesn't make sense from a financial point of view to make that their policy.

When you ordered yours, did they say what warehouse it was shipping from?

 

on cdw.ca it doesn't have any information on the white one, all it said was :

so I googled the part # to find out its the 3 cell. It's actually $24 MORE than the blue 6 cell at ncix.com which I canceled for this. I just immediately assumed because of the price it was a white 6 cell but then it sort of dawned on me since I don't see a white 6 cell available anywhere really. Actually their 6 cell blue is $4 less expensive than the white 3 cell. I don't mind spending a bit more for the white one, but I'd feel a little foolish if I realized I really need a 6 cell to get me through the day.

I only ordered from cdw because it was going to ship *today* according to the CSR and I was getting impatient. But now that it hasn't, I don't know why I'm spending more than I have to. The NCIX 3 cell white is 399, this one is 453 and they are getting it in 2-5 days

In fact I think I will cancel the order and wait. There's quite a few more UMPCs being released this fall and I think I'll just see if that doesn't start shaking up prices all over

 

AOA150-1006 is an XP, 3-cell, white.

appears to cost $408 USD, which seems like an incredible price since the 6 cell battery by itself is selling for $123.47 USD from that same site.

Something doesn't seem right to me with the price difference, but stranger things have happened.

However, as you mentioned, the website says 1-2 weeks for item to come into stock, which in my mind translates to, "we have no idea when it will be in stock."

I'm interested too to see what happens...I'm wondering if I should cancel my cdw order...

 

Yeah you can't really tell when that will be in stock, plus I have heard that the ones from NCIX have the international keyboard, which I'd prefer not to mess with personally.

 

FYI...

mwave.com claims they have AOA150-1006 (3-cell, white, XP) available (8/7): $406 (+ shipping + tax for CA). I placed an order today. Talked to a sales rep (on chat) to verify that they do have them in stock (well, he said they did). Let's see.

BTW, why do some online retailers ask for copies of credit cards and photo IDs? They should keep their system more secure than having their customers go through this trouble.

Looks like they're here. I got an email this morning from CDR saying they shipped mine. I paid $5 more for FedEx 2nd day, so it's supposed to arrive on Monday. I'd have preferred a blue one, but white is OK - at least it has XP and the 120G drive. (This one is for my wife - I already have the 8G/Linux model for me, with a 16G SD card and an XP Home upgrade.)

 

I got the email as well! It says I should be seeing it on Monday by 7pm if everything goes well

 

mine shipped too. except I asked them to cancel and they told me they would and shipped it anyway. They said they'd send me a RMA # for a full refund though. Now I have 2 A1's on the way.

 

mwave.com shipped mine on Friday as promised (from IL, interestingly).

If you want a blue one, order from microcenter.com. mwave.com is a white one.

I think it will take a while (maybe a month or so) for a 6-cell to be available...
