I received a new 120GB AAO that actually has a 160GB drive it it. It was new from the factory, they probably ran out of 120GB drives. I'm not complaining. It is an ST9160310AS 5400 RPM drive. It is running at UDMA 5. Here are the HDTune numbers...

    Transfer min 32.3
    Transfer max 67.0
    Transfer avg 52.6
    Access 22.1 ms
    Burst 89.4
    CPU usage 4.3%

    Same deal here! :D

    I got a Hitachi Travelstar 160GB, HTS543216L9A300 instead of a 120GB.

Re: 120GB AAO with 160GB drive Refurbished?

Mine is blue, that's all they had left in my town. I really wanted the white one, and I had one for a few hours, but I had to return it right away because the drive was defective. This 160GB was labeled 120GB on the box too. It is model AOA 150 -1777. Didn't get a 6 cell battery either, but the new battery is correctly labeled now, my first one had a "45Whr" battery which was wrong.

The weird thing about this one is that the Mfg date is 0810 (March 08) but it came with BIOS 3305 on it which is quite recent. It also has a non-flicker screen because I installed BIOS 3307 on it and I can now lower the screen brightness down more. This is my third one, the first was also blue and had a mfg date of 0808. Because of the early mfg date on this one, but the recent BIOS, fixed screen, and the unusual drive, I wonder if some of these could be refurbs that were reworked by Acer? Or is the second # in the mfg date a month and not a week of year...

Well I guess I was wrong about the disk speed. According to Western Digital's web site, the model number that I have is 5400 rpm. I guess the program Sysinfo lied to me.
