XFCE Desktop - shell script execution?

    Have a program installed that works okay by double clickling on the shell script file in File Manager. I right clicked on it and sent it to the desktop but nothing happens when I double click on it or right click and choose execute

    Realised that I had put in a folder called .ownapps rather than ownapps, it could not see the former. Problem solved I thought.

    Um.. if I tell it to open with itself it works, but it will not open by clicking on it even though I have specified it in preferences. And on restarting it says it is broken link but works okay still if I tell it to open with itself.
