Can someone explain me what are these? I was searching for a method to boot without having to type "cpus=1" everytime I want to get in OSx and I kept stepping with these posts talking about a "Voodoo kernel". What is it and why do I / I don't need it?

Just google "voodoo kernel" and the first place is Google Code, where you can get the kernel.

The Voodoo kernel is a community-supported kernel for PCs to help run MacOSX. It provides a speed boost and better support for PCs than Apple's kernel (the Vanilla kernel).

And you want to edit the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist in your favorite text editor.
