    It's pretty easy.

From the Windows "Display Properties" panel, go to the "Settings" tab. Select the "Advanced" button. Another setting panel will open. Select the "Monitor" tab. Uncheck the box to "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display". Apply the settings.

The next time you go to the "Display Properties/Settings" panel, you will have many display options.

A quicker way is to install Noda's "a1ctl" program <http://nodadev.wordpress.com/pc-projects/a1ctl/>, which is a great swiss army knife for the AAO, allowing you to control the fan, the screen, and the CPU. This has a quick switch between 1024x600 and 1024x768 mode, either scrollable or scaled.
