    Hi there

I have the A150 with internal 3g card and I am running 9.10 Karmic netbook remix. For mobile broadband, i use my phone on VirginMobile pay-as-you-go (35p/day for broadband) linked to the AA1 via bluetooth. it works perfectly, but i thought that at such a low price, I could just have a Virgin sim card in the 3g slot to use just for that. Is it possible and how?
-Does ubuntu find and install the 3g pci-e card driver by itself?
-Can I just use a PAYG Virgin sim card for broadband-only use?
-what or where are the details I need to enter to set up the connection?

    ThanX...

I settled for a second virgin PAYG sim for the UK.
    User Name:t-mobile
    APN:general.t-mobile.uk

The 3G has also worked with Vodafone and 2Degrees payg sim cards in New Zealand. I started with http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

Thanks for that. I was almost there until it asked me for a PIN. Do you know anything about that?

The PIN will be the one set up to use your mobile. I use 'global connect' in WinXP which allows you to ignore the PIN. Vodafone NZ initialised the sim in a spare phone including a PIN. In the UK the Virgin SIM I use has no PIN set, it just worked first time (global connect also has an auto setting to find the apn etc) :D .

The default virgin pin is 7890, if that does not work you will have to put the sim in a virgin or unlocked phone and ask them to reset it.

Thanks for the advice. I've tried using a brand new card. I know the PIN, I have registered the card online and enabled Internet use on it. The little network logo appears to be searching for about 5 seconds then gives up. Anything I am missing?Any additional tip will be welcome!...
