The basics when purchasing a laptop

TOP TIP: Go to an online computer mag site, then try to match as close as your budget will allow, the highest specs for your new machine. Using the comparison CPU AND GRAPHIC CARD sites as a guide.

    Know your requirements.

Top end Laptops: FAST TYPE GAMING, CAD DESIGN, GRAPHIC DESIGN

THE GRAPHICS CARD CAN BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE CPU

Then you will require a high mid to top spec machine
with as top end graphics card “AS MUCH as you can afford”.
not be suitable “in most cases” .

    RAM over 4gb

CPU again as much as you can afford

Here's a CPU comparison listings site

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/

And here's a graphics card benchmark site

    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

    MOST OTHER LAPTOPS

WORD PROCESSING TYPE JOBS, EVERY DAY OFFICE RELATED WORK OR
    SLOW/LOW END GAMES

    Battery life
    Operating system
    Screen size
    Portability
    Price

How long are you likely to be keeping it?.

RAM 4 gb Should be sufficient.

    CPU

Well this depends on your “now”, and future requirements, unless
you are going to do any of the “top end” stuff go for a medium type cpu
using the sites listed above, the best you can get for your money.

    Graphics card

An integrated graphics card type laptop Should be suitable, for GENERAL usage.

    INTERNET REQUIREMENTS

A low end machine will be sufficient for the internet “EXCEPT FOR ONLINE GAMING”.
