Skype desktop app opens up a page that 'cannot be found'?

This doesn't happen often but every now and then if I'm on a video chat with my girlfriend, I'll start th video call and skype will open a link in my browser with the apps.skype.com subdomain in the URL and it'll say Not Found, but it's very annoying. I took some steps to stop this as I think it hs to do with the ads used through Skype and so far haven't really had it occur for a short while now, but has anyone experienced this and come out with a definite solution?
