    Hello.

I have Compaq Presario cq61 laptop.
I got a problem with the monitor, which I can't work with the laptop without the power cable plugged in.
When it un-plugged the monitor starts to make noises and suddenly become black,
the pc is still on, but the monitor is off or something.
In the beginning I thought that I should exchange the LCD with a new one,
but then I found out that there is a part called inverter which relates to the power for the LCD or something.

Do you think that exchanging the inverter should fix the problem?

    Thank you.

Inverter works as a current supply. If someone you know possessing a good one with the same model try to borrow it then test it on your unit. This will help you to track whether the inverter is the cause of the problem or there are some other faulty circuit that causes the noise. Hope this would help!
