Does it really have to be an USB stick, or an SD card would be suitable too?
I mean using a storage expansion slot for HCSD cards available in AAO 110, for example.

I don't think it really matters is it an USB stick or a SD card, as long as you can choose to boot from this device (Use F2 and then F12 during boot-up.)
Chrome OS worked fine om my Acer One netbook (one with WinXP/Android dual boot). Even Google Wave worked fast, faster than on my home quad-core PC.
A Chrome OS build which I used (now there is more recent build there) required to be connected through LAN to log into Chrome OS at first. Then I used a small icon on a top right corner to configure WiFi (set a proper WEP key) and LAN connection was not necessary any more.
I also tried USB tethering from my Android Dev Phone 1 + CyanogenMOD. It worked fine, from the ChromeOS on netbook view, it appeared as a regular LAN connection.

if there is an official Android build for Acer Aspire One AOD250 with dual-boot, so i guess there should be also an official image provided by acer for restoring it in case of corruption, shouldn't it?

i would like to try to restore this image on my AAO

    is anyone aware of it?
