For those of you who do not have Student Status...

May I recommend Soft Maker Office - a Free Office Suite that is completely compatible with MS Office, it even handles docx Files using TextMaker... which is Soft Makers version of Word. it has the equivalent of Excel and Powerpoint also.
After a short while using it in the Windows version AND the Linux version of Soft Office 2012 Free versions I was offered a chance to purchase the 'Paid For version Soft Maker Office 2012 Standard version at a heavily discounted price.

Awesome :) I will be going back to school (hopefully) the next few years, so this might indeed come in handy. Thanks a lot for taking the time to post this kind of things.... things that are often overlooked by everyone else, but not you @something back!

Wow that seems too good to be true! Microsoft office can get expensive. Does it expire when you are no longer a student? I know I had previously purchased the student package (years ago when I was in school) but it only lasted 4 years.

Yes I am always skeptical when things are "free". I definitely know there is a discount for students (especially if they purchase it through their schools), however I don't know if it is free.

That's great that they're offering that to students. I bet it really came in handy for a lot of people!
