I've bought my One yesterday, and one of the first things I've done is to install FM2008 :)
In short - yes, it works. You'll have to run it windowed because the resolution is too small, but it seems to work quite nicely. I've just played one match, but it doesen't seem to have much problem with processing. Don't know how will it handle in the middle of the season, though. But I think it will be very playable.
I feel that the small screen will be a bigger problem, you can see from the image below what I mean. Screen height is too small to display all the information. Touchpad is quite uncomfortable to use here, so you might want to buy a small notebook mouse.

    Thanks Kreso,

The screen shot great, Do you have one in the game mode.

I think with time you will get use to the screen scrolling with a mini mouse. I was playing on getting one.
Did you use the cracked No-Cd version ?

I am thinking that a few teaks with a new skin may limit the size of the career bar. giving you a bigger
    Preformance attibuties screen.

How many league did you load up ? I was hope to run English Full, Scotish, possible one other,

    Cheers Loz

I haven't saved a game, so I'll have to start a new game. So, large database, English and Scottich nations, 8 leagues in total. It took him exactly 3 minutes to load the database. And saving a newly created game took some 15 seconds. Not so bad I presume, I don't tihink it starts up much faster on my C2D desktop computer, you can try to compare it with your computer.
Seems that I've started a game with small database (and 4 English leagues) last time, processing now seems a bit sluggish, but playable anyways.
    Here are some more shots:

You might be able to get it full screen by modifying the shortcut to the game.

basically when you go into the properties of the shortcut put.

    --fullscreen_height=600 --fullscreen_width=1024.

So the properties of the shortcut path looks sort of like this:

    C:\Games\FM2008\fm.exe --fullscreen_height=768 --fullscreen_width=1024.

or whatever your install path is:

Not tested it yet but i'm still tidying up my new xp install and am doing some pre-reasearch :D

    Got my info from http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, and I'm new to Linux...

I collect my AAO from Tesco tomorrow and plan / hope to install FM2008 (then 2009 mid-Nov) asap.

I've done a search on here for FM2008 and found this thread - I wanted to know if FM would work with Linux, and on the AAO, which I now know it will. However, what I want to know is: do I need to change the O/S to WinXP for it to work, or is there a way for it work on / with Linux? If so, I'd really appreciate a foolproof, step by step guide on how to do this...

    Many thanks, Simon

    Wine.
Google it, I don't know how to set it up, but it's Windows application emulator (if that's what it's called) for Linux. I think it shouldnt be a problem to set it up.

Anyhow... Has anyone tried FM09 demo? Seems that it doesn't have the alt+f11 option to maximize the screen :(.
Is it just me and my AAO, or does it crash when you go to preferences?

    Football Manager 2009

try with demo first to see if it works, saving buying or installing the full game if you have it already.

    so first install game

then download astray plus from here http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=18260

then set the resolution using astray to 1024x768

then right click on shortcut of fm, in target type -windowed -small_screen (make sure there is a space after the quote, otherwise wont work)

so it should look like this "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\fm2009.exe" -windowed -small_screen

then it should work, only problem is that it is quite slow, the speed of the game is the same as any machine, but the loading time, mouse response, and button clicking response is slowed down

Well it takes more graphics processing power or is it cpu power to do a windowed mode showing the desktop and the game...so don't do that :{P
